We all want people to come and see the amazing things we have on our blogs.
Your blog posts are the bread and butter to your blog. If you are creating continual content your readers will want to keep coming back for more.
But how do you get them there in the first place?
Here are the six top ways to attract people to your blog.
1. Send Emails:
Do you have an email list of friends, clients, customers, or people who have liked your blog. You may have offered a free product and it required their email to gain access to the download. If so, you now have a fan base of people you can communicate via email. Unlike social media where you have no control who sees your posts, an email is a direct link to a person.
Of course, you cannot control whether they open the email, but they will see it. This is why I suggest making a catchy email headline. I recently had a post on my TodaysCreativeMom.com blog about the top five ways to pick the perfect watermelon. My email headline was, “Don’t Pick the Pretty Watermelon”. This email had a good open rate as it enticed people to find out why that it.
Each time you write a post, send an email promoting it. You only want to give them a snippet of what the blog post is about because you want the reader to click on the link to your post.
“I love going to the farmers market. Finding the prettiest peach, most colorful strawberries and unblemished apricots, but when it comes to picking a watermelon – the ugliest ones are the sweetest and delicious. On each blog post have a Call to Action to another blog post link, a product or service you are promoting or an affiliate link, etc.
The Email Provider I use is Convertkit. It allows many opportunities to connect with your people.
2. Post in Social Media:
Do you have social media platforms that connect to your blog? If not, you should consider at least one. Many bloggers have many social media platforms and maximize their blog engagement with them. Yet, I know some bloggers who only have one social media platform (ex. Facebook) and they have wonderful engagement. Knowing your audience and niche will help determine which is the best social media platform.
When you have published a blog post it is always a good idea to promote it within your social media. You can include a small sample of the blog post content and image, along with a clickable link to the post.
You can also boost this post on social media platforms and pay a fee to have it seen by more people.
3. Collaborate in Guest Posts:
Many bloggers have numerous connections with other bloggers. They offer guest posts or collaboration posts to cross-engage with new readers. You can email bloggers and ask if they are willing to post your blog post on their pages. This works best if you will do the same for them.
4. Connect with Facebook Groups & Pages:
Facebook has many features and one is community groups and pages. Asking to join or likng a page gives you opportunities to advertise a blog post.
Read the rules of each group/page as they may have limitations on what you can post. I am part of a popular moms group and the moderator allows once a week promotions of content. I have this day (Mondays) written on my calendar to remind me to post my new content.
5. Post on Pinterest
Pinterest isn’t just for crafty ideas anymore. It has become one of the leading portals of marketing strategies. Using the images that you used for your blog post, you can use them to advertise your blog post. Create a catchy headline.
Pinterest is graphic oriented so you will need a good graphic image to catch someones attention. Here is a graphic I made for Pinterest.
5. Engage with your readers:
Relationship building is everything in the world of blogging. Before you promote or sell on your blog, your reader needs to trust you and align with their values. I am sure you have made a purchase mostly due to the relationship you had with the seller.
Ways to engage with readers is through comments back from your posts, asking questions through emails, responding to social media posts, and offering advice, tips, opinions and encouragement on other peoples posts on social media.
With every blog post think of ways to promote it.
If you have taken the time to create the post, you now want as many people to see it.
Enjoy sharing what you have to offer!
