You will Need:
Baked and cooled cake – Frosted with buttercream (I made a devil’s food cake -see cake recipes)
Buttercream (see recipe below)
Chocolate bar (I used dark chocolate 70% cocoa)
(optional: use chocolate chips or candy melts)
Cookie cocoa batons (I used Trader Joe’s brand)
Parchment paper
Disposable decorating bag or freezer bags
Chocolate candy balls (I used chocolate truffles)

Easy Buttercream Decorator’s Frosting
1 cup softened butter
1 cup shortening (Crisco or Great Value Walmart brand are good)
4 – 6 cups of sifted powdered sugar
1-2 teaspoons clear extract (I use many but mostly like pure almond)
Milk if needed to thin buttercream
Beat butter and shortening until well blended. Slowly add one-half cup of powdered sugar at a time until you get the consistency you like. Beat well until smooth.
Can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator.
