I love my front porch. It is where I sit with my dog Ruby to read and say hello to neighbors who walk by. I am lucky to have a home where the community is inviting and we all know each other. Each season I make a door wreath to welcome people to my home. I made this simple and inexpensive patriotic door wreath just in time for summer.
July 4th is a big deal where I live. Actually, most of the homes on my street have American flags flying daily throughout the year.
My father served in the Air Force and many of the families in the preschool I own serve in the military. It is in my DNA to honor our country with flags and patriotism.
If you have never made a door wreath, let me show you how easy it is. All you need is a trip to your local craft store to buy a vine wreath, ribbon, adornments (I used flowers), and wire/ribbon to tie ribbon down. That’s it.
This red, white and blue wreath is perfect for the entire summer.
What you Need:
- One grape vine wreath – I bought mine at craft store
- 2-inch ribbon – it was 50% off when I bought the red, white, blue star ribbon
- Craft floral – you can use other adornments as well (mini flags, etc.)
- Wire or thin ribbon to attach bow
Making a ribbon bow. As you will see in the video making a bow is about twisting and making a loop. I always have to keep my fingers tight to hold the loops. Once I have made all the loops, I tie a wire or smaller ribbon to keep it all together.
