Meet Sarah Mueller
I am very honored to have Sarah as our first Today’s Creative Mom feature.
Why? She has created a beautiful life, family and home, along with a dynamic presence in the online space for women.
Her focus on decluttering has opened the door for thousands of people to use her declutter system, along with her massive Facebook pages and groups.
Recently her Declutter my Home Facebook page was selected as only a dozen groups for Facebooks new membership groups launch. This is an amazing honor for her and the thousands of people who have transformed their homes to a place of joy and comfort.
Her Early Bird Mom blog has over one million visitors each year. Her many ebooks and products have helped thousands with decluttering, organizing and running a business.
In a recent interview I asked her, “How did you start?”
So several years ago, I was homeschooling my kids and we had every educational toy, puzzle and game known to man. Plus, I adored outfitting my kitchen with beautiful shiny appliances, gadgets and dishes. Walls of books filled our living room.
I figured that’s just what regular adults did – buy a house, have kids and fill it up with stuff. And then you keep it organized.
But my family cared less about being organized and it was a losing battle. Then I visited a relative who had embraced minimalism. All of a sudden, a lightbulb went on in my head!
Life would be better and much simpler if I started letting things go instead of working so hard to keep them organized. Those things weren’t making me happy; it was the relationships and experiences in my life that were fulfilling, not the stuff.
From that moment on, I was on a mission to declutter my home, and eventually help others do the same.
A little more about Sarah
Sarah is a single mom of four boys (yes, 4 active boys ages 7 – 18). She lives in a beautiful community in Pennsylvania.
In asking Sarah what tips she has for career moms like her, she replied, “Set boundaries, get childcare when needed – t is priceless and you don’t have to sacrifice yourself on the altar of motherhood. This isn’t good for you or your children.”
Recently Sarah built a zip-line in her backyard. Of course all the neighborhood kids want to play at her home. I think that was her goal.
Sarah is an inspiration to many as she offers her humble advice. I have seen firsthand countless women who have exposed their cluttered rooms on the Facebook page “Decluttering Club” and Sarah offers them support, encouragement, patience and love through the process.
