I love going to the zoo. Having an annual pass to the San Diego Zoo it is not uncommon that I spend the day at the zoo to read, write or just walk and see all the animals.
As a Court Advocate with Voices with Children I bought a year pass for my foster child to go to the Safari Park in Escondido, California. Unlike the zoo the Safari Park has the majority of their animals in a natural habitat. He had never been to the zoo before. He was actually hesitant about going but when we got to the monkey area he was hooked.
We spent hours watching the monkeys and gorillas. I have a video on my YouTube channel where you can here his voice (I am not allowed to disclose who the child is or his face) as he watched the gorillas for the first time. His excitement was heart-warming. See video link below.
Back to cupcakes!
If you are planning a zoo party or know someone who loves monkeys, these cupcakes are adorable and super easy to make. I bought a box of mini vanilla wafers, black frosting tube and chocolate frosting. That’s it. Oh, you need cupcakes too. We have lots of cupcake recipes (go to our search bar). With one box of vanilla wafers, frosting and black frosting tube you will be able to decorate at least 24 cupcakes.
I have two videos – One is How to decorate cupcakes with kids and the other is a quick tutorial of making the cupcakes.
You will Need:
- Cupcakes (we have lots of recipes for you – type cupcakes in search bar)
- Freezer bag
- Chocolate frosting (see our frosting recipes)
- Mini vanilla wafer
- Black food color gel tube
My foster child seeing gorillas for the first time. You can hear his sweet voice with excitement of seeing the gorilla use the box as a toy. The best part is the gorilla playing hide-and-seek.
